Nevada Mesothelioma Lawyers For nearly all of past century and a half that asbestos has been used, the damaging and deadly effects of the "miracle mineral" have been apparent. By 1898, British inspectors were already commenting officially on the "evil effects of asbestos dust" when discussing worker health. With such a long history of documented asbestos injuries, it may seem that asbestos injury lawsuits would be straightforward. However, the complicated legal and medical issues involved mean finding an experienced Nevada asbestos attorney is crucial to protecting your rights. In 1964, a conference held in New York City on "The Biological Effects of Asbestos" quieted any lingering doubts as to the risks and injuries posed by asbestos. Lung cancer, asbestosis, mesothelioma, as well as gastrointestinal cancers were all shown to be caused by asbestos. So it is shocking to note that asbestos use in the US did not decrease after this information was made available. In fact, the amount of asbestos produced, imported, and otherwise consumed by the United States continued to climb until 1973. What changed? By this time, the first asbestos lawsuits had made their way into courtrooms across the US, and more and more, injured workers and their families were winning against the asbestos products and companies that had injured them. Asbestos lawyers uncovered confidential memos, previously concealed correspondence, and evidence of companies' efforts to hush or alter medical studies. All of these documents together painted a clear picture: that these companies knew exactly what risks asbestos caused their workers. They simply didn't care because they were making profits. In 1966, an internal memo from Bendix (which is now a part of Honeywell) callously argued "if you have lived a good life while working with asbestos products why not die from it." Without tenacious, knowledgeable, and experienced legal representation, asbestos will continue to damage your rights and those of your family.
